Headshots that work for casting
Your headshot is often the first point of contact with casting directors.
It needs to feel clear, natural, and aligned with the roles you are suited to.
My approach is straightforward. To create headshots that feel honest, well-composed, and grounded in how actors are actually seen on screen, while meeting the practical requirements of casting.
Based in Cork, I provide actor headshots for performers across Ireland.
Sessions are suitable for both new and experienced actors.
approach
This wont be just a walk in-get headshots-leave kind of deal.
Every actor brings something different. Before the shoot, we take time to define what your headshots need to do.
We’ll discuss the types of roles you’re drawn to, your current casting range, and how you want to be positioned. From there, the session is shaped around creating a set of images that feels consistent, natural, and usable.
The focus is not on fitting into a template, but on working with your presence in a way that reads clearly on camera.
Traditional & Cinematic Headshots
Traditional headshots are designed for casting platforms, agents, and submissions. They prioritise clarity, expression, and versatility.
Cinematic headshots take a different approach. These are more atmospheric and character-driven, with a focus on tone, composition, and visual presence.
Many actors choose to include both, giving them a practical set of casting images alongside more developed portfolio work.
Industry Insight: Working With Actors
Alongside photography, I work as a Director of Photography, regularly lighting and framing actors for screen.
That experience informs how I approach headshots. Attention is given to how light sits on the face, how small shifts in expression read through a lens, and how actors are presented visually in a cinematic context.
The result is work that feels composed, natural, and aligned with industry expectations.
