Your headshot is often the first introduction casting directors have to you.
It needs to feel authentic, confident, and clearly communicate the kind of roles you can step into.
My approach is simple: create headshots that feel natural, cinematic, and genuinely reflective of who you are as a performer, while making sure they meet the practical needs of casting submissions.
Headshots that work for casting
What sets these headshots apart
This wont be just a walk in-get headshots-leave kind of deal.
Every actor brings something unique to the table, and your headshots should reflect that. Before we even step in front of the camera, we’ll take the time to talk about your goals. The kinds of roles you’re drawn to, your acting range, and the genres you want to be seen in.
From there, we’ll shape a headshot package that gives you a strong foundation for castings.
Rather than fitting you into a template, the process focuses on leaning into what makes you distinctive. your presence, your energy, and the subtle qualities that casting directors notice when they’re scanning through hundreds of submissions.
The aim is simple: headshots that feel authentic, confident, and unmistakably you.
Alongside photography, I work professionally as a Director of Photography, frequently framing and lighting actors to be presented on screen.
That experience shapes how I approach headshots. I’m constantly thinking about how light interacts with the face, how subtle expressions read through a lens, and how actors are visually presented on screen.
Because I spend so much time working with actors in cinematic environments, I’m comfortable guiding people into natural moments rather than stiff poses. The result is headshots that feel relaxed, expressive, and grounded in the way actors are actually seen on screen.
Industry Insight: Working With Actors
Cinematic headshots beautifully compliment classic casting headshots.
Traditional headshots are typically portrait-oriented images designed specifically for casting platforms, agents, and submissions. They focus on clarity, expression, and versatility.
Cinematic headshots take a slightly different approach. These are landscape-oriented images designed to feel more like film stills — atmospheric, character-driven, and visually rich. They allow actors to showcase presence and tone in a way that feels closer to how they might appear on screen.
Many actors choose to include a mix of both, giving them practical casting images as well as more cinematic portfolio shots.

Booking & Planning
Once your session is booked, we’ll begin planning the details.
You’ll receive guidance on wardrobe choices, colours and textures that photograph well, and how to prepare for the day of the shoot. We’ll also create a moodboard together to align on the tone and feeling of the images we want to capture.
To help you feel confident in front of the camera, I’ll also send over a posing and preparation guide with practical tips that actors often find helpful before stepping into the studio.
The goal here is to make sure you arrive at the shoot feeling prepared, comfortable, and excited.
Initial Consultation
Every session begins with a short consultation. This is where we get clear on what you need from your headshots.
We’ll talk about your experience level, the types of roles you’re currently going for, and where you’d like your headshots to position you. If you already have representation or specific casting goals, we’ll factor that in as well.
This conversation helps shape the direction of the shoot so that your session feels focused, relaxed, and productive.
The Photoshoot
The shoot itself is designed to feel relaxed and collaborative.
I’ll guide you through subtle direction and adjustments throughout the session, helping you find natural expressions and moments that feel authentic rather than forced. Because of my background directing talent on set, I’m comfortable working closely with actors to bring out a range of looks and emotions that feel truthful on camera.
We’ll work through different looks, tones, and energies so that by the end of the session you have a strong and versatile set of images to choose from.
Selection & Delivery
After the shoot, we can either select your images together or you’ll receive a private gallery where you can review and select your favourite images yourself or with your agent.
Once your selections are made, the chosen headshots will be professionally retouched with a natural finish — polished, but still recognisably you.
Your final images will be delivered in formats ready for:
• Print
• Casting submissions
• Agents
• Online portfolios
• Social platforms
Turnaround times are usually up to two weeks or faster, which will be confirmed at booking.
